Now let me share you my experience about this book. the book is not theory but practical. may be you don't remember all the principle and technique but as much as you starting apply you see the change by your self. your communication skill will increase and your confidence level will also increase and as you know communication skill is very important in this day and age.
Some of my favourite techniques are remember peoples name. In any language people like to listen their name.because that gives to the person, feeling of importance and respect. and people are craving for that feeling so don't forget the name. If you meet them first time then you can ask them genuinely without hesitation.
Second thing is that everybody wants to tell their story. so if you want to build good rapport with people take interest in their talk. try to not interrupt while they are talking. this is good practice to understand the people in front of you. and at last third thing is encourage them to talk by asking them questions about things related to the topic. this create impression on other person's mind that you are interested in them and as you start asking genuine questions (don't become a selfish because people can sense that you are genuine or selfish) to make them feel that you are interested in them.
